For my first blog post, I would like to talk about the Fundamentals of Interior Design, so we can have a common language, while we discuss over the various niches in Interior Design and Architecture. I consider this plays an important role in making of a good quality design. It also helps in giving you a direction in the creative process.Besides, I genuinely believe that these Design Fundamentals not only act as a guideline, but if followed correctly can also help us be accomplished Interior Designers.
Interior has a technical aspect referred to as Principles and Elements of Design, which when combined, helps you interact with the space better.
ELEMENTS OF INTERIOR DESIGN
There are seven elements that help in the outcome of a visually pleasing room. These constitute of Line, Shape, Space, Form, Texture, Color, Pattern and Light.
PRINCIPLES OF INTERIOR DESIGN
Principles of Interior Design are achieved through the application of the elements of design. Every well designed interior space constitutes of a combination of both. The principles of design are Function, Unity, Harmony, Rhythm, Emphasis, Scale and Balance.
